W. Hugh Pierce is a Nauvoo businessman, LDS Church Leader and past Mayor of Nauvoo. He holds a BA from BYU in Animal Husbandry. He taught agriculture at Northwest Junior College in Senatobia, Mississippi for four years.  His twenty seven years as a Nauvoo businessman include owning and operating a motel and being purchasing agent for Nauvoo Restoration, Inc.  He served for 2 years in the regular Army and 24 years in the Army National Guard.  He was elected Mayor of the City of Nauvoo, has been President of the Nauvoo Chamber of Commerce twice, President of the Nauvoo Lions Club four times, and a member of a High School Board of Education in Mississippi.  His service in the LDS Church includes Bishop of the Nauvoo Ward, President of the Nauvoo Stake, and the Nauvoo Temple Presidency.  He has been a Family History Missionary in Salt Lake City and a Service Missionary in Nauvoo responsible for inspection of the construction of the Nauvoo Temple.  He is currently a worker in the Nauvoo Temple and Institute teacher of college-age youth in the Nauvoo Stake.
