Michael Kennedy is President of the Joseph Smith Jr. and Emma Hale Smith Historical Society, President of the Joseph Smith Jr. Family Organization, executive producer of the film Emma Smith, My Story, and is a direct descendant of Joseph Smith Jr. Mr. Kennedy works as an IT director for ProPay. He grew up in Nevada, not as a member of the LDS Church. In high school, he started to learn of Joseph Smith and met with LDS Church missionaries. He was baptized a member of the LDS Church in 1973. He attended Southern Utah University where he was ordained an elder. He was the first descendant of Joseph Smith ordained to the Melchizedek priesthood of the LDS Church.
